Efficacy of Palmitoylethanolamide and Luteolin Association on Post-Covid Olfactory Dysfunction: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Clinical Studies

Post-Covid Olfactory Dysfunction (PCOD) is characterized by olfactory abnormalities, hyposmia, and anosmia, which are among the most often enduring symptoms in individuals who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. This disorder has been reported to persist subsets of patients well after 12 months following infection, significantly affecting their quality life. Despite high prevalence PCOD suffered specific therapeutic strategies still limited. Among these, emerging evidence seems indicate administration CoUltraPEALut, a combination micronized Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endogenous fatty acid amide, Luteolin, natural antioxidant flavonoid, as viable therapy, especially when given adjuvant training. Based on above, systematic review meta-analysis literature were conducted, with aim evaluating efficacy CoUltraPEALut addition training (OT), treating symptoms. Pubmed (MEDLINE), Embase (OVID), Web Science scientific databases screened inception until 31 May 2023, total 407 articles recovered; only five these studies (441 between treated control groups) included review. demonstrated significant overall recovery function, compared conventional suggesting that it could represent possible future treatment for PCOD.
